11 Am: Toddler Time with Miss Rae- This class is open to children ages 1-3. Sing a song, listen to a story and enjoy a fun activity. Class size is limited. Please pre-register.

June 14th- Summer Reading kick off party: Kick off summer reading and celebrate Smokey the Bear’s
80th year! Join us for a fun afternoon of crafts and activities, meet Smokey the Bear, and register for
summer reading! All Ages


June 21st- Paint n Snack: Come paint your very own adventure themed canvas and enjoy popcorn too!
Everyone takes home their 8”x 10” masterpiece!


June 28th- Rain Ready: Meet Miss Rain Day 2023 and the contestants for this year’s pageant as they
read us stories about rain. You will even make a rain stick to take home.


July 5th- Farm Day: Put on your overalls and join us for a meet and greet with fluffy friends from the barnyard!


July 12th- Professor Steve & the Cat in the Hat Wacky Science Magic Show : This show is brought
to us by WQED Inquire Within partnership with Schools Shows R Us and Steve Harberman.


July 19th- Bluey Party: Join us for a fun filled afternoon with everyone’s favorite Australian Blue Healer
as we play keepy-uppy and more Bluey inspired games. We will also have Bluey inspired treats and
maybe even Bluey herself will make an appearance!


July 26th- Harry Potter Birthday Party. Dress in your house colors and enjoy an afternoon at Hogwarts. Games, activities, and snacks will be provided.

Thursday mornings Flenniken will be at the parks to meet with the children in the summer program.

1 Pm: Movie Mondays- Each week we will enjoy popcorn and relax for the afternoon movie based on a children's book.

4:30 Pm: Middle School Mondays- Join Rae & Mia and take time to get together with your friends while you engaging in crafts and activities with older kids in mind. Grades 6-8

 Summer Reading Challenge

June - August

​​​​Non-Fiction Lego Challenge- Keep track of the non-fiction titles you read this summer to win a Lego set. There will be 5 sets, one each age group (Toddlers-Kindergarten, 1st-2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade, Middle School, High School). Just indicate on your reading record which titles are non-fiction. Children with the highest number of minutes reading non-fiction books will win! Sets are on display at the library. Reading Records are due by August 12th. Winners will be announced August 16th. *Siblings are not to share Reading Records! This is an individual challenge

Saturday, June 4th @11Am-Tiny Tim Tomatoes: Join master gardener John Areford to learn about tomatoes and take home your very own plant! Ages 0-12

Thursday, June 20 @2 PM GloGerm Handwashing Seminar—join the local community health nurse for
a fun presentation on germs. There will be a story and a fun science experiment! All ages


Saturday, June 22 @ 11 AM Alpaca Day Mary from the Crafty Alpca will be on site with an Alpaca! She
will talk to us about care, feeding and uses of the alpaca. All ages


Thursday, July 18 @2 PM Smoking/vaping Seminar— join the local community nurse for an
informative talk on the risks of smoking and vaping. There will be activities and a fun experiment. All
Ages


Saturday, July 20th @ 11 AM—Crafty Alpaca owner Mary will return, this itme with her spinning wheel
to show the process of turning the alpaca hair into a finished product. All ages


Saturday, July 27 @11 AM The Good Zoo at Oglebay will be here to introduce us to some new animal
friends! We will get to meet several different animals that live at the zoo. All ages

Wednesdays​ - June 19-July 24


11 Am:​ Grades 3-5. Keep your brain working this summer! Each week we will do an activity, listen to a story and get messy with experiments.

3 Pm:High School Reading Competition Book Club. Get a jump start on the 2025
GCLS Reading Competition. This is a club run meeting. This is open to all children who
will be in grades 9-12 in the fall.​



Tuesdays​ - June 18-July 23


11 Am:Story Time with Miss Rae- We will sing a song, create a masterpiece and learn social skills! This class for children ages 3-5. Class size is limited, must preregister.


1 pm:​  Kindergarten with Miss Rae- This class is designed for those children entering Kindergarten this Fall. Listen to a story, sing a song, and make a craft and help with  the transition to school.


​3 pm: Middle School Reading Competition Book Club- Join Miss Rae to get a jump
start on the 2025 GCLS Reading Competition. Each week a new book will be
discussed along with activities. This is open to all children who will be in grades 6-8 in
the fall.


5 Pm: Teen Tuesdays: Join Rae and take time to get together with your friends while
engaging in crafts and activities. Pizza provided​
